This weekend, Storm Dennis. At one point, I could not see the building across the street for the driving rain. I've never seen the lamp posts move so much! It's definitely been a batten down the hatches sort of week, and I've worked on a couple of projects, but also taken time to sit and read under a blanket and generally feel cosy this week. However - I did start project number 9 this week - more below...
#04 - Seaweed Shapes (knitting)
I managed another three squares this week, two textures in the Shellsand shade - including a plain moss stitch square, which seems to take forever. However, I have decided that the exception to the "one texture" rule is to have a moss stitch square in each shade; even if I do mentally grumble at knitting these. They do seem to take longer than the other squares, no doubt because you haven't got a pattern repeat or colour change to aim for as you track your progress.
And I have a new candidate for my favourite square ever! The faded stripe is just lovely, just a garter stitch where the shades blend from darkest to lightest by alternating rows. I'm now at 28/36 squares, definitely on the downhill strait.
#09 - I never promised you a rose garden (crochet)
So, a new project! After practising my crochet skills on the granny stripe sampler, I decided to see what else I could do, and discovered hexagons! Hexagons with little flowers inside them! I promptly unearthed my stash of sock weight yarn and pulled out all the dusky shades of pinks, purples and reds. I can also use some of my stash of crewel wool held double to create more shades. I'm thinking a blanket, all roses in a field of cream... I may be mixing my metaphors there a bit!
